What is Hot Iron Branding?

Hot iron branding is a traditional technique where a heated metal tool is pressed onto cattle to create a permanent mark used for identification. We use this technique to give your item a unique, handcrafted touch with your chosen characters.

Our Service Details

  • Personalized Branding: You can choose letters, numbers, or select symbols to create your unique brand design. Choose between 1-4 characters depending on the item. 

  • Brand Size: Our brands typically measure around 1" x 1" or 2.5cm x 2.5cm (approximate).

  • Handcrafted Process: Branding is done freehand by us. While we strive for precision, each brand will have natural variations, adding to its charm and character.

  • Placement: You may specify where you want the brand applied when ordering. If no preference is given, we will place the brand in what we consider the best location on the product.

  • Product Suitability: Not all items are suitable for hot iron branding, including cowhide rugs. If you’re unsure whether your chosen product can be branded, please contact us before ordering.

  • Suitability: Darker hides are not suitable or advisable to be used for hot iron
    branding, since the brand leaves a darker mark, this may not be as visible on dark hides. 

What to Expect After Branding

  • Appearance: Branding results will vary based on the type and colour of leather. Darker hides may show less contrast, and longer hair hides may affect the brand’s clarity.

  • Scent: Some products may have a slight burnt smell due to the branding process; this will disappear naturally over time.

  • Returns: Due to the custom nature of this service, branded products are non-returnable and non-refundable.

  • Small Cattle Tag Keychain: up to 2 characters

  • Extra Large Cattle Tag Keychain: up to 3 characters (or 4 with one at the top)
